Trauma Workshops

Vicarious Trauma / Compassion Fatigue Workshop

This interactive workshop provides practitioners, support workers, educators, and anyone in helping

roles with foundational knowledge and practical strategies to understand, identify, and manage

Vicarious Trauma (VT) and Compassion Fatigue (CF), while strengthening compassion satisfaction

and professional wellbeing.

Participants will engage in relational strategies designed to build safety and trust within the

workshop environment, supporting meaningful reflection and shared learning. The workshop

introduces key theoretical frameworks including Attachment Theory, Trauma and Developmental

Trauma, and an overview of both the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study and the

Australian Child Maltreatment Study, highlighting their relevance to modern practice.

Attendees will learn to identify the signs and symptoms of VT and CF, and will be guided through

the Professional Quality of Life (ProQoL) assessment to reflect on their own levels of vicarious

trauma, burnout, and compassion satisfaction.

The workshop concludes with a range of preventative, management, and reparative strategies

designed to support resilience, promote wellbeing, and sustain workers in emotionally demanding

roles. A curated list of professional resources is provided to encourage ongoing learning and

self-care.

Therapy Tools

Big Tree Dolls

The Big Tree Dolls: Sensory Tools for Trauma RecoveryTrauma can disrupt a child’s ability to feel safe, explore, and connect with their own body. The Big Tree dolls offer a unique, sensory-rich approach to healing—supporting regulation and safety through play. Developed in alignment with body-focused, trauma-informed practices, these tactile and weighted characters help modulate the nervous system, convey calming messages, and offer both sensory and metaphorical pathways to recovery. With relational support and repeated use, the dolls can foster trust, emotional awareness, and a growing sense of safety that extends beyond the therapeutic space into everyday life.

Lego Based

LEGO®-Based Therapy is an evidence-informed social communication program that supports children in developing adaptability, collaboration, and communication skills through playful, goal-oriented group activities. Rather than focusing on rote social rules, it fosters meaningful interaction by encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, attention, and creativity. Participants build models together while strengthening verbal and non-verbal communication, turn-taking, conflict resolution, and fine motor skills—all within a supportive and engaging environment.
